WATERLINKS, USAID/BE-SECURE, ORGANIZE RECIPIENT VISIT TO SEATTLE PUBLIC UTILITIES (SPU)
WaterLinks organized a visit to Seattle Public Utilities (SPU), United States, from 12-16 November 2016. The 14 participants were from the city and water utilities of Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, and Zamboanga, as well as the Be-Secure Project and WaterLinks staff. The visit was a part of the current Water Operator Partnership (WOP) on Water Demand Management (WDM). It was designed as an important element of the twinning partnership; recipients observed first hand the best practices employed by SPU on WDM and water conservation.
The recipient water districts presented their draft water consumption patterns as well as the water conservation plans for review and comments by the mentor. They also presented their current and planned WDM-related program and initiatives.
Ms. Joanne Dulce, Climate Change Adaptation Specialist, Office of Environment, Energy and Climate Change, USAID-Philippines headed the visiting team. Mr. Bruce Flory and Ms. Kelly O’Rourke of SPU facilitated the visit in Seattle, while Ms. Yolanda Gomez, Senior Partnerships Coordinator, provided counterpart support from WaterLinks.
