Board of Trustees Meeting
WaterLinks held its 7th Board of Trustees meeting on 9 October 2017 in Manila, Philippines.
The Board meets once a year in Manila to review strategy, program content, projects, and brainstorm in terms of value that WaterLinks brings to efficiency improvements in Asia’s crisis-riddled urban water sector. Mai updated the Board on work undertaken during 2017 including, particularly, the successful closure of the Be Secure project, funded by USAID. She also referred to ongoing work in Cambodia (a WOP between Battambang Water Authority and Yarra Valley Water, Melbourne), and the Pacific Island States (climate change adaptation training for Fiji, Samoa, and Papua New Guinea in partnership with Sydney Water Corporation). The prospects of additional work in Cambodia, India (with the Gates Foundation – on septage management), and the Pacific Islands (also on climate change adaptation) were also discussed.
We welcome the Board’s newest member, Dr. Amit Chanan, Director, City Projects and Property of City of Sydney, Australia, and a Visiting Fellow at the University of Technology, Sydney. Dr. Chanan has wide experience in water including a spell as COO of NSW Water, Australia. He brings over two decades of solid achievements to the Board.
