USAID Links MJP with Ranhill

Date:
2007, October
USAID met with the MJP's core managerial and technical team and discussed cooperation in detail. The cooperation would involve a twinning partnership to strengthen MJP capacity in undertaking the conversion activities in Badlapur, making sure that the appropriate technical measures were applied to warrant continuous supply, and replicating in other MJP towns. MJP also agreed to mobilize capital investments required for conversion and replication. USAID proposed partnering with Ranhill Utilities Berhad, a Malaysian utility recognized for providing continuous water supply and reducing water losses. Ranhill had agreed beforehand to engage in twinning partnerships with water utilities in India, which is one of Ranhill’s target countries for commercial projects.
