USAID is facilitating a twinning partnership between PDAM Tirtanadi Sumatera Utara of Medan (PDAM) and Maynilad Water Services, Inc. of the Philippines (MWSI) to support PDAM in its 2009-2010 initiative to provide water supplies to 3,500 low-income households in Medan, Indonesia. PDAM has connected several thousand low-income households through community operated water schemes in recent years while MWSI has worked at a larger scale in the past decade, having directly connected over 100,000 poor households. In this twinning arrangement MWSI will share its experience and assist PDAM to adopt best practices in serving the urban poor.
