On November 22, 2011, WaterLinks presented the 2011 Awards to two partnerships that achieved outstanding results in enabling improved access to water services and scaling-up of good practices. The Provincial Waterworks Authority of Thailand and the Korea Water Resources Corporation received the award for enhancing water quality management practices and in Khon Khaen, Thailand, resulting in more than 100,000 people with safer access to water services. In addition, Palembang City Water Supply Company of Indonesia and Penang Water Supply Company of Malaysia achieved exemplary results in bringing continuous water supply in Palembang City, starting from one pilot of 5,000 people and expanding to 36 areas impacting more than 200,000 people. Success factors for these partnerships included willingness to share knowledge as well as in-kind and direct funding resources amounting to more than $700,000.
