| From October 19-21, 2009, Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (MWSI) from the Philippines trained staff from PDAM Tirtanadi of Medan, Indonesia, on options for community partnership in water services delivery to the poor. During the training visit to Manila, the two water companies discussed how MWSI’s best practices can be adapted to Medan’s conditions and visited low-income communities to see how MWSI forms partnerships with communities and NGOs to provide water services delivery. Medan is currently implementing a master plan to serve 17,500 poor households between 2009 and 2013 with technical support from MWSI. USAID supports this WaterLinks partnership through its Environmental Cooperation-Asia (ECO-Asia) program. |
