2009, July From July 13-15, 2009, two experts from Maynilad Water Services of the Philippines worked with counterparts from PDAM Tirtanadi in Medan to expand services to the urban poor by building capacity on community mobilization techniques. Building on an earlier training on innovative technical service options to serve the poor, the Maynilad team trained PDAM Tirtanadi on the variety of ways a water utility can partner with a community in order circumvent social and legal barriers to serving the poor. The Maynilad team was also able to view field challenges in serving the poor and suggest ways for PDAM Tirtanadi improve service delivery to the poor.
