This conference aims to advance knowledge and experience in the utilization of membrane technology for water and wastewater treatment, furthermore it also present a perfect chance to strengthen network, bringing together water experts, engineers and researchers from the colleges, institutes and firms.
This event, which is jointly organized by IWA and Tsinghua University, will be held in Beijing from Sep. 1 to 3, 2009. It will provide a forum for scientists and professionals working in the membrane sector of the water industry to present their work and enlighten the ways to thinking membrane each other. The topics of the conference will cover almost all the areas of membrane technology, such as novel membrane materials, MF, UF, NF, RO and electrodialysis membrane processes, hybrid membrane processes, fouling mechanisms and control, desalination, drinking water and wastewater treatment, and some special case studies.
The conference themes are:
- Novel membrane materials and configurations
- Various membrane and hybrid membrane processes
- Membrane fouling mechanisms and control
- Drinking water treatment
- Domestic wastewater treatment and reuse
- Industrial wastewater treatment and reuse
- Desalination
- Case studies: membrane processes for drinking water and wastewater treatment

IWA introduced its Leading-Edge conference series on water and wastewater treatment technologies in response to the need to highlight the most significant advances in these fields. It covered technologies ranging from those just emerging from the laboratory to those just making their way to full commercial applications.
The 2009 edition of the LET conference will see its scope expand from its traditional focus on treatment technologies to include technologies that minimise the impact that the water sector has in climate change, resource recovery - such as water reuse and nutrient recovery - and advancements in nanotechnology.
